Clean Beauty Faves – Budget Edition

UPDATED 2023: When I talk to friends about non-toxic or “clean” beauty products, the immediate assumption is that clean beauty is expensive. There is some truth to this but the same is true for all beauty brands. In clean beauty there are luxury brands and drugstore priced brands and everything in between. Here are a few of my favorite clean beauty favorites that are budget friendly. All products will be $25 or under. For the sake of consistency in pricing, I am using the listed price on the product site. Shop around because you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. I typically do not purchase my skincare and makeup via amazon.com as I have had issues with the quality of products and there are lots of scammers selling faux products.

Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser $16.99 This is a great cleanser at an affordable price. If you have a Natural Grocers or Whole Foods in your area you can buy it in stores. It is also widely available online. This cleanser is for normal to dry skin and has a similar texture to a light lotion. It is not a makeup remover but I have found it does a pretty good job of removing my everyday makeup look. Not sure how it would do with a heavy makeup or toxic versions. My one issue is that sometimes the bottle pump doesn’t pop up. This may be operator error though since I feel like I have this issue more often than most people 🙂

A’del Natural Moisturizing Facial Stick $24 According to their website this product has been a long time customer favorite. I can see why! The ingredient list is stellar and it is a great option for travel. I am planning to try it for my birthday trip this year.

Honest Mascara + Primer $17.99 ( I have seen it cheaper so shop around) It is no secret that I love this mascara! I recognize that it is not the cleanest option in the clean beauty world, scoring a 3 on EWG but in my opinion it has the best performance by far. I have tried over 6 clean brands and this is always my favorite. You can find it on amazon and during Prime Day it dropped down to $10!! Talk about affordable!

Root Pretty Mascara $18 Mascara is my must-have makeup product so when I made the transition I HAD to find a mascara first. If you don’t feel comfortable with Honest Company, this is my next favorite affordable mascara. EWG rating of 2, non gmo and pretty impressive performance makes this a good choice.

Han Bronzer $18 My sister is a bronzer expert. It is one of her must have products and not because she walks around looking like she has mud on her face (you know you have seen those women) but because she knows how to apply it well so that it brightens her face. When she switched to clean makeup she was skeptical that she could find a bronzer she liked. This Han bronzer in the shade Malibu is her favorite and mine too. If bronzer is your thing – try it. Han also has some great blush options at an affordable price.

W3ll People Power Palette Eyeshadow $22 This palette comes in 3 different shade varieties. I have not used this eyeshadow myself but have used other products by this brand and have been happy with them. These are advertised as long wear and have a mix of matte and shimmer shades.

Toups Organics Tinted Lip Balm $12 This tallow based balm is not just clean, it is great for your lips. My only complaint is that it only comes in one shade. Thankfully it is a very versatile shade that looks good on lots of people.

Silk Natural Lip Products $6.99 Silk Naturals has AMAZING affordable eyeshadow $4.95. I have posted about them before but I didn’t mention their lipsticks because I wasn’t focused on budget buying. These lipsticks are about as affordable as you can get. They are not my all time favorite as I prefer glosses and glazes but I definitely recommend them for lipstick lovers looking for a budget product. These are long lasting and well pigmented with lots of color options.

Jillian Dempsey’s waterproof eyeliners are my absolute favorite. $20 I am not typically a waterproof eye makeup person but I love how these perform. Some of the clean eyeliners I have tried look great at the beginning of the day but don’t last well – not so with these. I have the shades jet black and deep burgandy.

Heritage Rose Water $5-$10 Rose water is great as a body spray, setting spray or in your hair or bath. I love the smell and will let my little girls use it as perfume – they love it! There are many brands but I have found this one to be clean and affordable. I sometimes use it in place of a toner.

Lily Lolo Pressed Blush $20 Lily Lolo is a great brand. They have great blushes as well as bronzers. I prefer a pressed or cream blush but if you want to save a few dollars LL also has a mineral blush for $18. This pressed blush has good pigment and color choices. I love the chic packaging!

I hope you enjoy trying some of these brands! Let me know if you have questions as you clean up your makeup bag!
